inspired

After spending a good 2 hours on several "green" blogs. Apartment therapy and chezeraby I have decided I want, ok probably more than that do some of these ideas. So to start it off these are a few of the requirements I want. I want a house near or at least commutable to my work, with Kit in school I don't see this as always happening but at least I should be able to commute most days, plus it's not like it's a hard idea. I want a front porch that is covered and gabeled, To hang the kayak, or kayaks. I really like the idea of building my own kayak and staining it the same color at the house, though our red kayak will still be my favorite. Also a small "inside" porch for the bikes. I want it to keep the bikes out of the house but still in a semi warm area some times it would just be nicer. Also it would be nice to have a a buffer which is a two door entry way. Also with 3-4 years of us starting out I think a project would be fun, and I really like the idea of doing a renovation of an older house, which hopefullly would make it a cheaper house. Other small ideas that I think would be great. plus make most if not everything recycled.

Kitchen.
integrated so that the things that we eat a lot some how is incorporated, kit likes wine lets use a piece of an old wine barrel that would have been thrown away into a pot holder.

i'll think of more I'm just in that mood

thoughts

ok there are a couple of thoughts going around me head right now.

1. NEVER EVER should senior teachers assign project, test, and test and projects due the class after homecoming that happens to also be Halloween. I'm basically studying me life away while people are, 1. downtown (ehhh so don't care but better than here), 2. watching movies (ok so im doing this but still), 3. doing nothing (ok so that just sounded lazy but I said it)

3. as for above every one read the "It's the great pumpkin: Charlie Brown"
it probably describes life better than any philosophy book ever could think of.

4. Riding my bike with kit, even thought it doesn't happen much is probably one of the most relaxing things if i'm in the right mood, which honestly sometime I'm not. It teaches me things to slow down for a bit. Before I was riding with her my hill climbs sucked after about a week of riding with her my hills improved 150%. Shows you some small things and how it work.

5.the whole idea of I soon am going to be a husband is scary, I'll admit. It takes some thinking about. In less than 8 months i'll be married.

6. I need to get with chad and write a stupid blog post for the other blog, it's a fantastic idea and other people have already gotten on it before us, and we've already had a tasting party

a little late

So Greenville hosted the national cycling championship and George Hincapie won the stars and strips jersey. With only one other team member Craig Lewis who just came back from the swine flu. What a great domestique, he really showed his level of expertise. It's kinda sad though, because this might be his last great race as he has switched to a national team but I mean he does have two children and why not. He is going to be signing with BMC, and Lance Armstrong is signing with radio shack along with the rest of Astana besides Contrador, which I feel like most people will be more than fine with. Hopefully radio-shack can take the lead and hold the group, and it's too bad that Hincapie didn't take Armstrongs offer but I'm sure that his new team, hincapie's will be able to take advantage of his skills, and I hope they do.

getting back in the saddle

it's been two weeks so far of training, and getting back in the saddle, from only 100 miles this summer to 200 a week, it's been kinda rough and plus the move in, but you know it's good for me. Lost most of the summer weight, most being the key word and planning on what I'm going to do with my life during school. Some times I wish that it would just end sooner than later and these next two semesters are going to kick my butt. Yet it's still not as bad as it could be so I'm not going to complain, it's senior year, 1st year on the cycling club, and road racing doesn't start until the spring. So here's to training, here's to friends, and most of all here's to all the seniors at clemson, hurah and let's get it through this

The Best bike ride ever

So after my past for 4, and the three weeks before that were there was little or no biking except for the morning and afternoon commute I think I've had the best bike ride of my life. Last Friday I did a small short ride with Austin I was hurting, everything felt wrong absolutely horrible. Saturday was a nice ride but still getting over the pain from Friday and going where in the heck did all of my speed go. Saturday night we went to the Athens criterium 2009. It was amazing from watching in the infield and the outfield and watching the start of the mens race off of turn one there was nothing wrong with it. Sunday I went on a ride with justin and still feeling a little pain but nothing to bad and speed really picked up. Which brings us to today, first off my speed was there ok so the first two hills I defiantly didn't think I would have made it up and was getting ready to turn back because I was hurting so bad, but decided to get better I have to push for it. I got up the second hill pushed hard and my 2nd wind came and it seems like the rest of those just feel in behind it was crazy. Pedeled hard up the hills, down the hills around corners. Then to top it off as I was coming off of Maw bridge probably a mile out of Central I decided to finish a good ride right, which means off the saddle and pushing at 80% until the end and finishing with a 100%. Well out of no where a ferrari comes up behind me the guy goes "you look like your pushing it", gets in front of me and leads me all the way into central pushing the whole time playing a game of cat and mouse with a Ferrari I'm willing to bet there are guys who ride in italy who have never done that. So to top a good ride of and make it a great one I got a Ferrari to bring me in from the end of my ride!

I see no down side

there has to be no down side to owning a manual transmission
except for the fact that 95% of your friend's won't be able to drive one
and that there are none to be found

so for that reason I say, manual transmission you once and in my mind are still a statement of how much of a man you are, but people do not see it like that anymore, though it was what it once was a thing of legend it is now nothing more than what use to be, for that I am sorry manual transmission.

Next time your biking and something starts sounding weird, LUBE!

Tour of california

So were in stage 5 of the Tour of california, I wish I was there, but levi leinghberhine is the yellow jersey (basically the winner) of the stages so far. Lance has said that he wants levi to win. but I think that that the picture above describes the king of the mountains, it's semi cold and always a good ride! Also Lance's time trial bike was found in Sacromento so who knows!

twitters from lance armstrong

Random thought: The Tour of California should be in late April. Better weather, can get into the sierras, final tour of italy tune up, etc.

Getting a massage post race. Listening to a little Jose Gonzales.

Another tough day at the ToC. Had a spill half way. Moto with a photog crashed in front of me and I t-boned them. Body's ok tho.

http://twitpic.com/1i8t1 - A pic of the stolen tt bike. There is only one like it in the world therefore hard to pawn it off. Reward bei

wow the life of lance during the tour of california, first you wreck because guys with cameras and scooters shouldn't be allowed to close to you. Then your time trial bike gets stolen, atleast Trek has promised that by friday they will have a brand bike of the same type and style.

Thanks for the rants

Also if every one wants to know were doing a ADA (american diabetes association) century on June 13, were pretty excited and hoping to raise 2000, ok so we have some motives to raise because we'd love to show our riding because we can get jersey's made for the event.

any other race or ride events that poeple wanna talk about give me a heads up.

Also to Rob Johnson I know it's early but I hope the training is going well for the triple bypass

it's been a while so here are some rants

For the Ibike portion of the blog, over the past two weeks it's been total of a 150 miles, with 40 of them in a single trip.

Cat bus drivers can see bikes, which means that there is full right to stop, try to kill me, and then drive on like nothing happened.

Do we really need clear every single tree 5 feet from the side of the road, especially if it blocks the noise of cars to a neighborhood, seems they'd want them there.

Also, it's tax season, Wes turned 21, and the duke basketball game is tonight, and tomorrow is the IPTAY national meeting

im engaged

so it's been almost exactly one week, since I asked Kate tanner Johnson (kit) to marry me. For all of you who didn't know or don't know or want some details here's the low down, for MLK weekend me kit and 10 of our other friends went down to Ocean Isle beach, they all said on friday I drove to the beach like it was going to burn down, I was in a race for time. We get to the beach is freezing (litteraly it's 22 degree's F, and luckly for me there was no wind. I get a couple of poeple involved in the whole situation, carmen and britney put the sparkling wine (a rose), on ice with a string of lights around it so acentuate the glasses, all while we went on a walk on the beach. Which conveniently we didn't go on a walk on the beach last time we were down, so the whole week I bothered kit about it. As we get down to go walk on the beach she about put her gloves on, I told her you don't wanna wear those I wanna hold your hand. So we go walking she complains about it being cold as she would any other time, and she knows I'm just going to wave her off. So as my nerves build up to equal my braverly I start playing with kit's true love waits ring, I turn to her and start to pull it off she claims "You can't do that", I reply "trust me", I drop down to one knee and ask her to marry me.

Yet I still find it approriate for me to add a few quotes that sum of this week.

"I think your room mate is taking our picture" -kit

"So I really think your going to enjoy marriage...he he he...well yea man that's awesome" -justin scott

"she's more frightened by a bee than a hurricane" -Rob Johnson

"welcome to the family, kitty kat hinkle" -Ethan (my brother)

"so I'm guessing everything went well judging by the smile on your face" -jamie williams

Ibike

we hit up 57 miles and were a little less than 6 miles than from the NC border.

I have to say thought that I messed up and didn't eat well enough for the ride so I had to have kit pick me up about 6 miles before central because I just about passed out
